14.7. Configuring the routing settings of the Arctic
Usually there is no need for adding other routes than the network tunneling in VPN settings of the
Arctic. If other routes are needed, they can be added with “Routing” menu in Arctic router.
Verify the settings:
• The “Act as router” should be enabled.
• The “Proxy ARP” should be disabled.
The proxy ARP is used in some special scenarios, where Arctic will answer to ARP queries (with
Arctic’s own MAC address) on behalf of the devices that are on the other side of the VPN tunnel. If
not carefully planned, enabling the proxy ARP may cause problems. Generally, it is recommended
that proxy ARP should be disabled.
