Figure 43: Configuring L2TP peer
3. In the example configuration, fill the values as in Figure 43: Configuring L2TP peer:
Peer name: arctic1
IP pair: 172.16.0.1:172.16.0.2
Routing mode: Tunnel the following network
Remote network IP: 10.10.10.0
Remote network mask: 255.255.255.0
Username: arctic1
Password: password
Find the description on the L2TP peer’s parameters below.
Peer name
The hostname of the Arctic (case sensitive!)
In this example configuration, fill with value arctic1.
IP pair
The VPN peer IP pair. The VPN peer IP addresses are marking the VPN tunnel endpoints.
See step 3. for values.
Note: The VPN peer IP addresses must not overlap any other network or conflict with any
other IP addresses that are used in the system. It is safest to use otherwise completely
unused private network range for peer IPs, as in the example.
Routing mode
Set according to the case specific configuration.
In this example configuration, the “Tunnel the following network” is selected.
o No routing
If there is no LAN at the Arctic side, there is no need for routing the Arctic’s LAN
over the VPN tunnel. Usually it is best to avoid this setting and tunnel Arctic’s LAN
as in next bullet.
