Introduction The Vinten Radamec Native Lens Drive (NLD) (Fig 1) has been designed to interface between robotic control systems and the camera lens (e.g. Canon or Fujinon). The lens control can either be serial (with compatible lenses) or analog (via the lens hand control demand units). Cable options The NLD unit is supplied with appropriate cables for connecting various Fujinon and Canon lenses to the control system. For further detail please refer to the cable options listed on page 18.
Operation Configuring the NLD The NLD unit must be configured for use with different robotic systems and camera lenses. To configure the NLD baud rate, proceed as follows: 1. Ensure that the power/data cable is disconnected from the power/data input socket (6). 2. Remove the four cover fixing screws (1) and remove the cover (2). 3. Locate the head communication DIP switches (8) (Fig 2) and set them according to Table 1 - Head communication DIP switch settings (8). 4.

Installing the NLD The Vinten Radamec NLD unit can be easily attached in an appropriate position on the head, using the self adhesive ‘velcro’ strips on the back of the case. Ensure that the chosen position allows all necessary cables to connect without snagging or interfering with camera movement. The Vinten Radamec NLD can control both serial and analog lenses. The type of lens affects external cable connections (see Lens cable options on page 18) and the NLD calibration time.
Servicing General The Vinten Radamec NLD is robustly made to high engineering standards and little attention is required to maintain serviceability save regular cleaning. Refer to the appropriate section in the Technical Manual if any defect is apparent. Adjustments and repairs should be carried out only by a competent person. Routine checks During use, check the following: Check that cables do not become entangled around the pan axis. Rotate the pan and tilt head as necessary to free the cables.
Parts List The following list includes the main assemblies and optional accessories. For further information regarding repair or spare parts, please contact Vinten Radamec or your local Vinten Radamec distributor. For information on-line, visit our website at www.vintenradamec.
