4 Installation Instructions
4.1 Check System Components
4.1.1 Changing the Sealing Element
Damage to the Sealing Element
If damage to the sealing element, separator ring, or grip ring is
discovered, contact a Viega District Manager for assistance.
If the sealing element in the tting is damaged, it should be exchanged for
a Viega replacement sealing element.
For applications requiring an FKM sealing element in ProPress 316, remove the
factory-installed EPDM sealing element using an O-ring pick and replace with
an FKM sealing element.
Do not use metallic pointed or sharp objects during
removal because they could damage the sealing element
and/or bead.
▶ Remove the sealing element from the bead using a blunt object such
as a nger or an O-ring pick.
4.1.1.1 ½" to 2" Fittings
For applications requiring a dierent sealing elements,
remove the factory installed sealing element and replace
with the applicable sealing element. See Changing
Sealing Elements Product Instructions.
