Viega ProPress – delivers safe, clean drinking water The amount of lead in drinking water has been regulated by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) under the guidelines of the Federal Safe Drinking Water Act established in 1974. On January 4, 2011, the Federal Drinking Water Act was amended by Senate Bill 3874 to require not more than a weighted average of 0.25 percent lead when used with respect to the wetted surfaces of pipes, pipe fittings and fixtures.
