The sealing element is the most important aspect of a pipe connection.
Viega press ttings offer three high-quality elastomer sealing elements that
are harmonized precisely to specic media, pressures and temperatures in
order to ensure ideal operation for a long-term industrial application. With
a range of uses that varies from compressed air to corrosive chemicals,
Viega sealing elements are designed to suit nearly any application.
EPDM Sealing Element
The EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) sealing element is used
in applications like potable water, process water, hydronic heating, re
sprinkler and compressed air. EPDM sealing elements can be found
in Viega press ttings with green and orange dots. It has an operating
temperature from 0ºF to 250ºF (-18ºC to 120ºC).
HNBR Sealing Element
The HNBR (Hydrogenated Nitrile Butadiene Rubber) sealing element is
well suited for applications that include propane, diesel and fuel oil, as well
as other various industrial gases. HNBR sealing elements can be found
in Viega press ttings with yellow dots. Its operating temperature is from
-40ºF to 180ºF (-40ºC to 82ºC).
FKM Sealing Element
The FKM (Fluoroelastomer) sealing element is recommended for
applications such as solar, district heating, low-pressure steam, various
chemicals and compressed air systems. FKM sealing elements can
be found in Viega press ttings with white dots. It has an operating
temperature from 0ºF to 284ºF (-18ºC to 140ºC) with the capacity to
withstand heat spikes up to 356ºF (180ºC).
