Make your choice according to the following table.
Changing the Sound settings
You use the Sound Settings menu to change the following settings:
Audio Output;
Audio Format;
Volume;
Background Music.
Item Settings Comments
Picture Format 4:3 Setting for ‘standard’ (4:3) TVs.
16:9 Setting for ‘widescreen’ (16:9) TVs.
Presentation Mode

Pan & Scan The centre portion only of any widescreen (16:9)
transmissions will display on a standard (4:3) TV.
Letterbox The whole of any widescreen transmissions will display on a
standard (4:3) TV, but the picture does not fill the screen.
Video Output PAL If your system is connected via RF leads, you should select
this setting.
RGB If your system is connected via SCART to SCART leads, you
should select this setting for a better quality picture.
Contrast Low, Medium,
High
Select your preferred setting for the contrast of your TV
display.
Banner Timeout Off, 5 secs,
10 secs
Select your preferred setting for the length of time that the
channel banner displays on-screen when you change
channel.
Closed Captions On, Off Select whether or not you want Closed Captions to be
displayed when they are available.
