Clear CMOS Jumper: J7
The onboard CMOS RAM stores system configuration data and has an onboard
battery power supply. Using the CMOS RAM, the system knows to automati-
cally boot the OS when it is turned on. The long-life battery has a lifetime of at
least 5 years. If you want to clear the system configuration data from the
CMOS RAM, use the J7 (Clear CMOS Jumper). Follow the instructions below
to clear the data:
Jumpers
The VIA P4XB-RA and P4XB-SA mainboards provide jumpers for setting the
mainboard’s functions. This section will explain how to change settings for
your mainboard’s functions through the use of the jumpers.

You can clear the CMOS by shorting 2-3 pin while
the system is off. Then return it to the 1-2 pin
position. Avoid clearing the CMOS while the
system is on; this will damage the mainboard.
