has been used for wood burn-
ing, rebox and chimney must 
be cleaned of soot, creosote and 
ashes  be  a  qualied  chimney 
cleaner.  Creosote  will  ignite  if 
heavily heated.

Clean glass with any commercial glass
cleaneror soapandwater.Do notuseany
abrasivematerialtocleantheglass.Donot
cleanglasswithanycoolwaterifglassisstill
hotfromreandsmoke.

Ifyouwishtoinstallanunvented(vent-free)
gaslogset,onlyunventedgaslogsetswhich
havebeenfoundtocomplywiththestandard
forunventedroomheaters,ANSIZ21.11.2are
tobeinstalledinthisreplace.
  WARNING:  When  using 
a decorative vented gas  log, 
damper  must be removed  or 
permanently locked in fully open 
position and glass doors must 
be in fully open position.
GLASS DOORS
Glassdoorsarestandardwiththisreplace.
Whenreplaceisinoperation,doorsmustbe
fullyopenedorfullyclosedpositiononlyora
rehazardmaybecreated(seeFigure23).
Areplaceequippedwithglassdoorsoper-
atesmuchdifferentlythanareplacewithan
openfront.Areplacewithglassdoorshasa
limitedamountofairforcombustion.Exces-
siveheatwithinreplacecanresultiftoolarge
areisbuiltorifcombustionairgateisnot
completelyopen.
Thefollowingtipsshouldbeusedtoassure
that both fireplace and glass door retain
theirbeautyandfunctionproperly.Boththe
ue damper and glass doors must be fully
openedbeforestartingare.Thiswillprovide
sufcient combustion air and maintain safe
temperaturesinrebox.
IMPORTANT: The glass must be allowed
towarmslowlyandevenly.Temperedglass
willwithstanda gradualtemperaturerise to
550°F,whichismorethananormalrewill
generate.Suchmaterialsaspitch/waxladen
logs, very dry mill end lumber and large
amounts of paper or cardboard boxes can
createanexcessivelyhotreandshouldnot
beburnedinthisreplace.Alwayskeepre
backfromdoors and neverallow ames to
contactglass.
 WARNING: Fireplaces 
equipped  with  glass  doors 
should  be operated  only  with 
doors fully opened or doors fully 
closed. Doors, if left partly open, 
may draw gas and ame out of 
the  replace  opening  creating 
risks of both re and smoke.
