Engine Lubricating Oil
Only use a recognised brand of oil for lubricating the engine.
Lube oils are differentiated according to their performance and
quality class. In common use are specifications named after
API (American Petroleum Institute) and CCMC (Committee of
Common Market Automobile Constructors).
Approved API Oils : CD, CE and CF4
Approved CCMC Oils : D4, D5
As the viscosity of lube oil is dependent on temperature, the oil
vicosity (SAE grade) should be selected according to the ambient
temperature when the the engine is started.
To avoid oil changes dictated by the seasons we advise one of
the following multi-grade oils.
- SAE 10W40 for temperatures of -25°C up to +30°C
(-13°F up to +86°F)
- SAE 15W40 for temperatures of -20°C up to +35°C
(-4°F up to +95°F)
For example: Vetus Marine Inboard Motor Oil
Shell Super Diesel T
