Message Wait and Call Back
Message Wait - A station Message Wait request is defined as the Message Wait Indicator
(MWI) request left by another station without a voice message. The notified station user can
then respond to that request (for example, a message left at the station). When responding to
the station, the notified user can answer messages left on the station in sequential order.
Call Back - The Callback button can be used when calling a busy or unanswered station. Once
that station becomes idle, the station that left the call back request will be signaled.
CONDITIONS
• A station with a message waiting can receive periodic audible reminders of a message
waiting. This tone is only sent over the speaker of an idle station.
• A station can leave only one callback or message at a called station. If a new message is
left, it will override any previous message.
• A maximum of five stations can leave messages at a single station at a time. When a
station attempts to leave a message at a station which has already five messages (and
none of those was left by the currently calling station), an error tone sound.
NOTE: When voice mail access is enabled at a station, after recording a voice mail
message, the messages changes to a normal message. In this case, an error tone
will not sound.
• Message Wait information is saved even during a power failure.
• When dialing a station number instead of pressing the [CALLBK] button to answer a
Message Wait, the message wait will be canceled at the calling station.
• The Message Wait reminder tone is programmable from 00 to 60 minutes (00 =no tone).
• SLT phones must have a Message Wait LED in order for message waits to be sent and
received. However, Message Wait LEDs for voice mail notification are not supported.
• Each station may have up to eight hundred Message Waits.
• A Message Wait reminder tone will sound until all the messages are retrieved.
