Circular/Terminal Hunt Groups
Circular Hunt Groups
An incoming call is routed to the first idle station in the group (versus the first "designated"
station as in a Terminal Hunt Group, and if the station is unavailable or does not answer the call,
the call is routed to the next station in the group. The call will continue to route to each station
until it is answered or the last station in the group is tried. If the call goes unanswered and is
routed to the last station in the group, the call will remain at the last station in the group, or it will
be sent to the assigned overflow station or group.
If a Hunt Group has a designated "pilot number" (also known as a Hunt group number), only
calls that go to the pilot number will "hunt" (when unanswered) for an available station.
Terminal Hunt Groups
In coming calls will go to the station that is designated as the "first" station in the group (rather
than the first idle station as a Circular Hunt Group does - see above). If unanswered or
unavailable, the call proceeds to the next listed station in the group. The call will continue to be
rerouted until reaching the last station in the group where the call will remain or can be sent to
an overflow station/group. A terminal Hunt group can be assigned with a pilot number (Hunt
group number) and only calls to the pilot number will hunt.
