APPENDIX F - T1 MAINTENANCE
Slip Errors
• Slip errors indicate that the T1 board has discarded or duplicated a received frame
and the receive signal from the network is not properly synchronized to the system.
• If you receive a slip error, the SLIP indicator on the T1 board provides information
about this condition.
Transmit Slip Errors
• This T1 only error indicates that the T1 board has discarded or duplicated a
transmitted frame and the transmit signal to the network is not properly
synchronized to the system.
• If you see this error, check the DXPOPT-SYN card for proper installation.
Loss Of Sync
• The loss of sync indication means the T1 framer is unable to synchronize with the
received signal.
• This condition will cause the system to send a yellow alarm to the network, but will
not cause a yellow alarm indication at the T1 board.
• When a loss of sync condition exists, check the received signal and wiring. The
SYNC indicator on the T1 board also indicates this condition.
Blue Alarms
• The network sends a blue alarm (also known as an Alarm Indication Signal or AIS)
for detection by the T1 framer.
• This alarm signal consists of all ones on all channels and is an indication that the
network is unable to detect any signal being transmitted from the T1 board.
• This condition will immediately cause a red alarm. When you see a blue alarm,
check the transmit signal.
Loss Of Signal
• Loss of signal is an indication that the T1 framer is unable to detect a received
signal.
• This condition causes the system to send a blue alarm to the network, but will not
cause a blue alarm indication at the T1 board.
• This condition will immediately cause a red alarm. When you get this indication,
check the receive signal and wiring.
• The SIG indicator on the T1 board also indicates this condition.
Primary/Sec Sync Ref Switch
• The DXPOPT-SYN card sends this status information to cause the error log to
display a message that indicates that the primary or secondary reference has
become activated or deactivated.
• This condition is usually associated with other synchronization type errors.
• If an error occurs, be sure that the DXPOPT-SYN card is installed properly and the
T1 lines are wired correctly and have the proper signaling.
• The PRI and SEC indicators on the DXPOPT-SYN board also indicate these
conditions.
Sync Phase Lock Error
• The DXPOPT-SYN Card sends this alarm to indicate that it is unable to
synchronize the DXP clock to the T1 signal.
• When this alarm is active, it is a good practice to check the DXPOPT-SYN card for
proper installation and strapping.
• The UNLOCKED indicator on the DXPOPT-SYN card also indicates this condition.
