Programming Caller ID Codes and Local Calling Areas via the DET (continued)
Setting Local Area Prefixes:
Set this for any areas that require a 10 digit number for local calls.
From the DB Item Select screen (see steps 1 through 3 on page 268):
4) Enter 03-29-02 (for Local Area Prefix 1).
• To program other local area prefixes, see NOTE below.
NOTE
To program other local area prefixes:
Enter 03-29-04 (for Local Area Prefix 2).
Enter 03-29-06 (for Local Area Prefix 3).
Enter 03-29-08 (for Local Area Prefix 4).
Enter 03-29-10 (for Local Area Prefix 5).
Enter 03-29-12 (for Local Area Prefix 6).
Enter 03-29-14 (for Local Area Prefix 7).
Enter 03-29-16 (for Local Area Prefix 8).
Once you have entered the correct code as shown above, go to step 5.
5) Press show to display the corresponding area code table (i.e., 1, 2, 3, etc.).
6) Press chg.
7) Enter the code you want the system to dial (usually the same digits as the area code) when dialing local
calls
• Use this field when 10 digit dialing is required on local calls.
• The range is from 0 to 999.
• The default is NULL (none).
NOTE
While many local calling areas only include one area code and prefix, some local
calling areas contain several. If you need to specify more than one local calling area
code and prefix, use the remaining area code/prefix fields to do so. If you do not need
multiple local area codes/prefixes, leave the remaining area code/prefix fields set to
NULL.
8) Press save to store the setting.
9) Press next to display the area code (now go to step 6 in “Setting Local Area Codes:” on page 269).
OR
Press next twice to display the next area prefix.
• Repeat the steps shown in this section for each area prefix (and/or code) you want to program -
up to 8).
OR
Press the volume UP button to return to the DB Item Selection screen.
• If you choose to use this method, you can use the individual codes to program the area prefixes as
shown in the NOTE under step 4 on the previous page.
OR
Exit programming (see “Exiting Database Administration” on page 27).
