Privacy and Enabling Privacy Release
The DX-120 system is shipped with all intercom and CO line calls set for privacy, which means these calls may not be
monitored or interrupted by other extensions.
If a user’s programmed class of service allows him/her to have the
Privacy Release and OHVA (Off Hook Voice Announce) features, they may use those them to override the CO line
privacy settings.
NOTE
To intrude or monitor, a user must have a “lower” monitor class (i.e., number).
If Privacy Release is disabled (the default), conversations are private from interruption.
If Privacy Release is enabled:
- conversa¦tions on that CO line may be interrupted (either by intrusion or monitor) by another extension.
- the Monitor feature can be used to listen in on existing conversations (see “Setting Up Monitoring Privileges”
on page 404).
- the Intrusion feature can be used to barge in on existing conversations (see “Setting Up Intrusion
Capabilities” on page 407).
Privacy Release simplifies call processing by removing one of the safeguards.
Having the Privacy Release disabled is typically required in most business applications, but in some
environments, this setting may be used in certain application (e.g., monitoring Technical Support calls for quality
control, etc.)
The privacy release setting is applied on a CO line basis. That is, one CO line may be assigned privacy release
status while another is still marked for privacy thereby ensuring uninterrupted, private conver¦sations.
The following conditions apply to privacy release:
- Three extensions maximum may join a CO line conversation in progress.
- Privacy Release uses the system conference circuitry, therefore while up to three extensions can join a CO
line connection (the maximum Privacy Release), multi-party conversations are limited to eight (that is, eight
four-party conferences).
