The Remote Wake-up feature is provided by Wake on LAN
(WOL)
technology that resides in a network adapter and on the
system
motherboard in a LAN environment. When a system is in a
standby
or suspend state, the network adapter continuously monitors
the
network and watches for a wake-up packet. When it receives
that
packets, it alerts the system, which then comes to a full power
state
and stands ready for maintenance or other tasks.
