Burner and Burner Compartment
Itisimportanttokeeptheburnerandtheburnercompartment
clean.Atleastonceperyearthelogsshouldberemoved
and the burner compartment vacuumed and wiped out.
Remove and replace the logs as per the instructionsin
thismanual.
Always handle the logs with care as they are fragile and
may also be hot if the replace has been in use.
Cleaning
Therearethreemethodsofcleaningthepolishedstainless
steelofyouroutdoorreplace;
1. Warm,soapywater-toloosenanydirtlm
2. Glasscleanerwithammonia
3. Stainlesssteelcleaneravailableathardwarestores
Regardlessofwhichmethodisused,rememberthatany-
thingwithtoomuchabrasivemaydullthenish.
Cleaning the Standing Pilot
Control System
Theburnerandcontrolsystemconsistsof:
• mainburner
• gasorice
• pilotburner
• thermopile
• combinationmillivoltgasvalve
Mostofthesecomponentsmayrequireonlyanoccasional
checkupandcleaningandsomemayrequireadjustment.
Ifrepairisnecessary,itshouldbeperformedbyaqualied
technician.
Inordertoproperlycleantheburnerandpilotassembly,
turnoffthegastotheunit,removelogsexposingtheburner
andpilotassembly.Cleanallforeignmaterialsfromthetop
oftheburner.Checktomakesurethatburnerpartsare
clean.Visuallyinspectpilot.Brushorblowawayanydust
orlintaccumulationIfpilotoriceisplugged,disassembly
mayberequiredtoremoveanyforeignmaterialfromthe
oriceortubing.
Toobtainproperoperation,itisimperativethatthepilot
and burner's ame characteristics are steady, not lifting
oroating.
Typically,thetop3/8"or1/2"ofthethermopileshouldbe
engulfedinthepilotame.(Fig.16)
Toadjustpilotburner,turnpilotscrewmarked"pilot"for
properamesize.
Theairshutterissetatfactorynoadjustmentshouldbe
necessary.
