Specify the following parameters:
Name – select the network type.
Destination - enter the destination IP of the destination
host, subnet address, network address, or default route.
The destination for a default route is 0.0.0.0.
Netmask – enter the network mask. This is used in
conjunction with the destination to determine when a
route is used.
Gateway – enter the IP address of your Gateway.
Metric – enter a measurement preference of the route.
Typically, the lowest metric is the most preferred route.
If multiple routes exist to a specifi c destination network,
the route with the lowest metric is used.
4. Click Apply to save changes.
8.4c/ IP ADDRESS DISTRIBUTION
You can easily add computers confi gured as DHCP clients to the
network. The DHCP server provides a mechanism for allocating IP
addresses to these hosts and for delivering network confi guration
parameters to the hosts.
For example, a client (host) sends a broadcast message on the network
requesting an IP address for itself. The DHCP server then checks its
list of available addresses and leases a local IP address to the host for
a specifi c period of time and simultaneously designates this IP address
