Type Style
The following table describes the typographic conventions used in this guide.
Notes and Cautions
Note: This is a Note and is used to call attention to information that makes it
easier to use the product or helps you to avoid problems.
CAUTION! This is a Caution and is used to warn you about situations that
can cause data loss.
Keyboard Sequences
Some keyboard command sequences use two or more keys at the same time.
For example, you may have to hold down the
Ctrl key before you press another
key. When this type of command is referenced, the keys are connected by
hyphens. For example,
Ctrl-t.
Typeface Usage Examples
courier Computer output; user input;
names of commands, files, and
directories
You have mail.
The mkdir command
creates a new directory.
mkdir new
italics New terms; document titles;
words to be emphasized;
variables to be substituted with
a real name or value
mkdir filename
