Install back plate (34107106) on the opposite side of the
hinge and secure with appropriate bolt size and fastener
(from 34107054 bag) (Fig. 5, 6). The included nylon
spacer may be required to ll in void space. Repeat
steps to install second hinge on bottom rail. See chart
below for detailed fastening options.
NOTE:
When using the back plate installation method,
there will be extra 1
1
⁄2" #2 square/phillips combo
screws which will not be needed.
TIP:
For superior performance and to comply with
warranty, additional wood inserts must be installed
in both gate uprights.
Hold the gate level to the post and mark drill holes on
the gate post. The slotted screw holes on the inside of
the post attachment allow for vertical adjustment. It is
recommended to drill holes and secure the three inside
screws rst (Fig. 7) before drilling holes and installing
the three front screws (Fig. 8). Secure both hinges to the
gate using six 1
1
⁄2" #2 square/phillips combo screws per
hinge (34107053).
Adjust the hinge width or position to the gate post using
the four bolts located where the hinge attaches to the rail.
NOTE:
HINGE TENSION IS PRE-SET AT THE FACTORY
AND USUALLY DOES NOT REQUIRE ADJUSTMENT.
If you wish to change tension setting/gate swing
speed, or completely disable the self-closing feature,
please see the following:
Hinge tension adjustment
a.) Hold the tension adjustment bolt with
an
11
⁄16" wrench (Fig. 9).
b.) While holding the tension adjustment bolt, loosen the
Locking Nut with a
5
⁄8" wrench (Fig. 9).
NOTE:
DO NOT RELEASE THE TENSION BOLT AT
ANY TIME DURING THIS ADJUSTMENT.
