Determine gate opening:
The gate opening should be 2" wider than the gate (X)
for hardware clearance. The hinge kit will support gates
up to 150 pounds and 6'x6
1
⁄2' (Fig. 1).
a.) Ready-to-assemble gates are available in
predetermined widths.
b.) For select styles, a custom size gate can be
assembled from a ready-to-assemble panel and
the purchase of the gate framing kit.
c.) Pre-built panels can be altered to make custom
gate sizes. Pre-planning prevents cutting down full
board increments (in privacy panels) and ensures
that the pickets are spaced symmetrical on both
sides to accept the gate hardware correctly.
ADDITIONAL INFO:
For pre-built picket panels, a 3

⁄2" hardware clearance is
required and installed without decorative hinge covers
due to space clearance (Fig. 2).

Install the hinge on the rails/gate upright. The gate can
be adjusted to swing 180 degrees with either a manual
or self-closing feature (Fig. 3).
a.) Mark a pilot hole using the hinge and back plate
(34107106) and drill with
1
⁄4" bit (Fig. 4).
