Appendix E: AT&T T6 Client
The T6 Client is part of the AT&T IPv6 Service. Customers with the T6 Client installed on their PC will be
able to reach IPv6 network and content through AT&T IPv6 Service. If IPv6 is not available, applications
will default to IPv4.
Corporate Networks
The T6 Service is a tunneling protocol which needs to access specific (configurable) UDP ports. On some
corporate networks, these ports are blocked, and therefore the T6 service will not work.
Operating Systems
Windows Vista (SP1)
Windows 7
(Windows 8 is not supported)
Components of the T6 Client
T6 Client Service – creates a tunnel to the IPv6 gateway to send/receive messages
T6 UI or Tray Icon – Allows users to interact with the T6 service by clicking the icon and selecting a
displayed option
Mini-port Driver for the T6 Client - Interface (virtual adapter) that allows the T6 Client to interact
with the network
System Tray Icon
After installation, a T6 icon will be present in the system tray. There will be three colors associated with
this icon (see below), as well as a menu accessed by clicking on the icon. Hovering over the T6 icon will
result in informational messages being presented.
A “blue” icon represents that the T6 tunnel is active with an IPv6 address assigned
