VMG Mode
In VMG Mode the SC-1 shows your Velocity Made Good based on a wind direction you have defined.
The display is updated at 2Hz (twice a second). The wind direction is defined by pressing the plus and
minus buttons in VMG mode. Holding the plus button increases the angle and holding the minus
button decreases the angle. Release the button to define the displayed direction as the new wind
direction.
Determining Wind Direction
Easiest way to determine wind direction is by sailing straight downwind and reading the compass reading
on the SC-1 then adding 180 degrees. You can also sail to irons and read the heading. The VMG
reading will provide you with meaningful information even if you are off by a few degrees.
