BG-S5 BATTERY GRIP Designed for the Sony A6500 Mirrorless Camera
Introduction Thank you for choosing Vello, and congratulations on your new BG-S5 battery grip purchase. Enjoy the many benefits that a battery grip offers, such as extended shooting time and more control and comfort when shooting in a vertical (portrait) orientation. The Vello BG-S5 is compatible with the Sony A6500 mirrorless camera, and it accepts up to two Sony NP-FW50 rechargeable batteries. It offers an alternate shutter-release button and has a control lock to prevent accidental triggering.

Attaching the Grip 1. Ensure that the camera power is turned off, and the Control Lock on the BG-S5 is in the Off position. 2. Open the camera’s battery chamber door, and remove the battery. Then insert the battery pack adapter. 6 3. Open the camer a’s connection plate cover, and close the battery chamber door. This will leave the bat ter y pack adapter’s contacts exposed.
INTRODUCTION 5. Rotate the locking wheel counterclockwise until it’s firmly tightened. 7 6. Connect the shutter release cable from the cable release socket on the battery grip to the Multi Terminal on the A6500 body. OVERVIEW Align the camera’s tripod socket with the BG-S5’s mounting screw, and insert the camera’s connection plate cover into the recess. ASSEMBLY 4.
Inserting the Batteries 1. Lift and rotate the battery tray’s lock counterclockwise, and remove the battery tray from the grip. 2. Align the contacts of the first battery and slot 1. Insert the battery toward the springs, and push down to lock the battery in place. 8 3. Align the contacts of the second battery and slot 2, and slide the battery into place until it clicks.
INTRODUCTION 5. Turn on the camera, and switch the battery grip’s control lock to the On position. 9 Note: When removing the grip, turn off the camera’s power and the grip’s control lock switch, then remove the batteries. Removing the Batteries 1. Tu r n t h e c a m e r a a n d battery grip power off. Lift and rotate the battery tray lock counterclockwise, and remove the battery tray from the grip. 2. Remove battery 1 by pulling back against the springs and lifting the battery out of the tray. 10 3. Re m ove b a t te r y 2 by moving the latch outward and sliding the battery out of the battery tray.
When two batteries are installed in the BG-S5, your camera will automatically select the battery with lower power remaining. The battery level will appear on your camera’s LCD with the battery level percentage for only the battery in use. When the battery is depleted, your camera will switch to the other battery in the grip.
