Term Defintion
Barcode Code on a merchandise that consists of ver-
tical bars.
Cash drawer Drawer in which cash is kept, connectable to
a cash register system.
CE Duty for marking all devices, manu-factured
in or imported into the EU, verifying confor-
mity with EU standards and regulations.
CSTN Color Super-Twist Nematic. LCD technique,
where pixels are addressed by transistors,
which can address a whole line or column.
Ethernet A standardized network protocol, used for
interconnecting computers and networks.
Flash-ROM In contrast to ROM, Flash-ROM is a recorda-
ble memory type. Here, the ECR software of
Vectron POS systems is stored.
Hardware Physical components of a computer and its
peripherals.
Identification lock For sign in and out of the operators.
Internet Worldwide computer network, consisting of
various interconnected networks.
LCD Liquid Crystal Display; a layer of liquid
chrystals is given in between two foils. When
a voltage passes through these chrystals,
they change the angle of optical refraction.
Network Group of computers that are connected via
different lines and share common resources
like data and peripherals.
Network port Port via which several computers or ECRs
can be connected.
Operator key For sign in and out of the operators.
Parallel port Port that allows simultaneous data transmis-
sion on eight lines.
