Host Operation
53
One of the strongest features of the is the availability of fine-grained permissions. the
Master users or groups can be added or deleted from three different sets of permissions:
“Service Security tab”, defines permissions for services on this Host for the user or
group selected.
“Admin Security tab”, defines permissions for access to the Host Control Panel
window.
“Settings Security tab”, defines permissions for modifying configuration settings for the
Host Control Panel window.
An access control policy, comprised of a specific set of permissions, can be assigned
to one or more the Master users or groups in the network. A common configuration
approach is to create role-based access control policies and assign them to specific
groups of users in the network (e.g. Senior Administrators may be granted more
permissions than Junior Administrators).
NOTE: If Windows authentication is selected, all Gateway-managed connections require
that a Gateway domain user account with full access and administrative rights be
configured on the Host computer.
NOTE: As long as the Gateway is on the known list of the Gateways on the Host’s
Gateways tab, the Host will automatically add that Gateway’s user account to its security
settings list with full access rights.
