Installing the H9657-CX Kit

If you have a VAX 6000 Model 200, 300, or 400 system that does not have a

+3.3V XMI, the H9657-CX kit lets you upgrade the system to a Model 500

without going through the full power and packaging upgrade (kit H9657-

CU).

This chapter assumes that you have powered the system down as described

in Chapter 2. Sections include:

NOTE: The H9657-CX kit, consisting of a power regulator module and a

bus bar, is provided with KA65A processor modules when the customer is

upgrading from a VAX 6000 Model 200, 300, or 400 system. You do not

use the kit in all cases, however. The H9657-CX kit is only used for an

upgrade from a VAX 6000 Model 200, 300, or 400 system with an XMI that

does not supply +3.3V, and where the following conditions hold:

• No battery backup is needed

• No more than 4 processors are needed

• No more than 12 XMI slots are needed
