Diversi-Flush
HVAC Flushing Solvent
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q:
What refrigerants is Diversi-Flush
compatible with?
A: Diversi-Flush
is compatible with CFC and HFC refrigerants and compressor oils.
Q:
Is Diversi-Flush
safe to use?
A: Diversi-Flush
is safe, nontoxic, and residue free. In addition, Diversi-Flush
conforms to EPAs Significant New
Alternatives Program (SNAP) standards.
Q:
Is Diversi-Flush
HAZMAT?
A: Diversi-Flush
is not HAZMAT for storage or ground transportation.
Q:
What is the advantage of the reusable injector tank?
A: 1. The reusable tank lowers cost since you only need to buy the Diversi-Flush
refill cans.
2. Pre-charged cans include refrigerant propellants which are more expensive to use than nitrogen.
3. The trigger assembly allows for infinite control of dosage insuring more economical use of the solvent.
4. Using nitrogen as the propellant is less expensive and more environmentally friendly than using HFC-134A.
HFC-134A is a powerful greenhouse gas. One kilogram of HFC-134A has the same global warming impact as 1,430
kilograms of carbon dioxide (http://www.epa.gov/cpd/mac/service).
Q:
Can the injector tank be over pressurised during nitrogen pressurisation?
A: Over pressurisation is highly unlikely but possible. The injector valve has a reseating pressure relief safety valve set at
200 psi. This helps prevent potential bursting and resultant injury.
Q:
What if I don’t require the entire can of Diversi-Flush
Solvent to clean a system or line set?
A: The injection nozzle allows you to control the dose rate and any left over solvent can be stored in the injector for future use.
Q:
How does the dose rate for Diversi-Flush
for burnouts and retrofits compare with the competitors?
A:
For R22 conversions, we recommend 3-second bursts of solvent. A 16-ounce (480ml) can of Diversi-Flush
will treat up
to 500 feet (127 metres) of liquid line. For burnouts, we recommend 2-3 oz. (30 to 60 ml) per ton. Diversi-Flush
uses
less solvent per application than Nu-Calgon. Treatment results will vary depending on the application and conditions of the
line set when serviced.
Q:
Why do you recommend only charging the injector
tank to 50psi, then injecting in 3 second bursts?
A: Tests are conclusive that injecting the solvent at lower
pressure assures longer solvent to oil contact time. In
addition, the smaller volume delivered in short bursts
assists in completely dissolving contaminants. In this case,
less is better.
Q:
Is nitrogen necessary for use with Diversi-Flush
?
A: Nitrogen is used as the propellant for Diversi-Flush
.
Nitrogen is required with all flushing systems to purge
any residual solvent and contaminants through the system.
Q:
Do pre-charged canister systems dispense 100% of
the flushing solvent?
A:
In many cases pre-charged canister systems will not fully
dispense the flushing solvent depending on temperature.
At lower temperatures, the R-134a propellant provides
less pressure and may leave solvent in the canister. The
Diversi-Flush
system allows contractors to add additional
nitrogen if there is still solvent left, regardless of temperature.
