Fault
If the central locking system cannot be
operated with the radio remote control, it
may be due to the following:
z The ra nge of the ra dio remote control
has been exceeded.
z Radio remote control battery voltage is
too low. Battery replacement - see right
hand column.
z Frequent, repeated operation of the
radio remote control outside the
reception range of the vehicle (e.g. too
far from vehicle, remote control is then
no longer recognised). Remote control
synchronisation - see right hand column.
z If the central locking system is
overloaded as a result of repeated
operation at short intervals. The power
supply is cut off for a brief period.
z Interference from higher-power radio
waves from other sources.
To eliminate the cause of a fault, we
recommend contacting a workshop for
assistance.

Remote control battery replacement
Replace the battery as soon as the range
of the radio remote control begins to
shrink.

Extend key, see page 28. Open radio
remote control. Replace battery - battery
type, see page348 - noting installation
position. Close radio remote control.
Make sure that you dispose of old batteries
in accordance with environmental
protection regulations.
Key with fixed key section
Have the battery changed by a workshop.
Synchronise the radio remote control
after malfunctions or battery change
After changing the battery, unlock the
door with the key in the lock. Turning on the
ignition will synchronise the radio remote
control.
