z The airbag system is additionally
triggered in the event of a serious
accident involving a frontal impact, and
fo rms a sa fe t y cu sh io n f or t h e drive r a n d
front passenger. In the event of a sid e-
im pact, the sid e airba g sy ste m 3
protects the occupants in the front of the
vehicle, and the curta in airbag system
protects both front and rear outboard
seat occupants.
Three-point seat belts
The front and rear seats are equipped with
three-point seat b elts with automatic
retractors and locking devices, allowing
freedom of body m ovem ent when the
vehicle moves at a consta nt speed,
although the spring-tensioned belts are
always a snug fit.
The belt ha s a “vehicle sensitive retractor”
whic h is d esigned to lock during heavy
acceleration or deceleration in any
direction.
In the event of an accident, persons not
wearing seat belts endanger their fellow
occupants and them selves.

Seat belts are designed to b e used by only
one person at a time. They are only
suitable for children a ged up to 12 or
smaller than 150 cm if used in conjunction
with a child restra int 3.
For children up to 12 ye ars of a ge, we
recommend the Vauxhall child restraint
system 3 - see pag e 43.
9 Wa rning
The airbag system serves to supplement
the three-point seat belts and belt
te nsioners. The seat belts mus t the refore
always be worn.
Disreg ard of these notes ca n lead to
injuries which may be fatal. Vehicle
pass enge rs must b e in f o rmed
according ly.
Be sure to read the d escriptions of all the
restraint systems on the following pages.
9 Warning
Always wear y our sea t belt, and that
means also in urban traffic and when you
are a rear seat pa ssenger. It ca n save
your life!
Pregnant women too must always wear a
seat b elt, keeping the lap belt low and
snug on the hips and pelvis (not the waist
or abd om en, where a ctuating b elt
te ns ione rs could cau se s erio u s inju ry in
the event of a collision).
