Restoring rear seat backrests
Lift and push b ackrest up and backwards
to restore it to its original position. Ensure
backrest la tches into place by pushing top
of backrest and pulling it forwards again.

The armrest can be folded down.
If the rear centre seat is be ing used or the
rear seat backrests are being folded down,
fo ld ar m res t u pwar ds .

Seat belts
Three- stage restraint system
The sy ste m compris es :
z Three-point seat b elts.
z Belt tensioners, with load lim iters, on the
front seats.
z Airbag systems for driver, front
passeng er and rear outboard seat
occupants.
The three stages are activa ted in sequence
depending on the seriousness of the
acc ident:
z The automatic sea t belt locking dev ices
prevent the belt strap from being pulled
out and thus ensure that the vehicle
occupants are reta ined in their seats.
z The front seat belt buckles are pulled
do wnwards. As a res ult, the se at be lts
are instantaneously tightened and the
occupants are made aware of the
deceleration of the vehicle at a very early
stage . Th is redu ce s stre ss place d o n th e
body.

When folding the backrest, use caution -
beware of moving p arts.

Ensure that the backrest returns to its
correct position - see pa ge 34.
Nev er adjust the rear seat b ackrests
whilst the vehicle is moving. They could
move in an uncontrolled manner when
the lev er has been pulled .
