When the engine is at operating
tem perature, coolant level rises. It falls
again when the system cools. If it falls
below the MIN m ark wh en th e sy ste m is
cold, the coolant must be replenished.
Top up anti-freeze. If no anti-freez e is
availab le, top up with clea n tap water.
If tap water is unavailable, distilled water
can be used.
When you top up with tap water or distilled
water, add concentrated anti-freeze and
possibly mix in anti-freeze as well. H ave the
cause of the coolant loss eliminated by a
workshop.
Too low a coolant level can cause eng ine
dam age.
When closing, tighten coolant filler cap as
far as it will go.
Coolant temperature

coolant temperature is too hig h. Check
coolant level:
z Coolant level low:
Top up coolant. Pay attention to the
instructions given under "Anti-freeze and
corrosion protection" and "Coolant
le vel". H ave the caus e of the coolant loss
rem edied by a workshop.

Have the cause of increased coolant
te mperature reme died by a works hop.

removing coolant filler c ap. If steam is
visible, move away from the vehicle until
th e en g i n e i s c o ol .
Remove coolant filler cap carefully so
that pressure can escape slowly,
othe rw ise th ere is a risk of sca ld ing.

Caution - brake fluid is poisonous a nd
corrosive. Do not allow it to contact eyes,
skin, fabrics or painted surfaces; direct
contac t may cause injuries and damage.
