Block the wheels of b oth the caravan /
trailer and the vehicle w hen parking a nd
always a pply the handbrake firm ly. If
possible, do not pa rk on slopes.
Pa rking on i nclines
If parking on an incline is unavoidable,
depress the footbrake, have someone
place whee l blocks und er the caravan /
trailer wheels and release the footbrake
until the blocks have absorbed the load.
Depress footb rake again, apply
ha ndbrake, engage first gear on uphill
gradients or reverse gear on downhill
gradients (autom atic transmission 3 in P)
and fina lly , release footbrake.
St arting on inclines
Depress the footbrake and hold it down,
start the engine, shift into gea r and release
th e ha ndb rake.
Release footbrake and drive slowly until
the caravan / trailer is clear of the w heel
blocks. Stop the vehicle and have someone
pick up the b lock s. If pos sible , the engine
speed should not drop during this
procedure.
For vehicles with automatic transmission 3
in Automatic mode, ap ply sufficient
throttle.
Before starting-off under extreme
conditions (e.g. high com bina tion weight,
mountainous terrain with steep inclines),
switch off all unnecessary electrical loads
(e.g. heated rear window, air conditioning
system, heated front seats 3).
9 Wa rning
Have someone p rov id e as sistance when
removing blocks. Alw ays rem ove block s
from wheels while standing to one side.
Do not remove blocks while standing
behind the caravan / trailer; risk of injury
and damag e to both the vehicle and
caravan / trailer.
