Eng ine oi l level check and topp ing up
The engine oil level must b e checked with
th e v ehicle horizontal and w ith th e engine
(which must be a t operating temperature)
switched off. Wait a few minutes before
checking the level to allow the normal oil
accumulation in the engine to drain b ack
into the oil pan.
Top up if the engine oil level has dropped
to the "add oil" lower ma rk (or MIN mark).
The oil level must not go above the upper
(or MAX) mark on the dipstick. This would
lea d, for example, to increased oil
consumption, excessive formation of
carbon residue and a p ossible risk of
dam a g e to th e cat a l y tic co nv er t er or t he
engine.
When replenishing , attem pt to use the
sam e typ e of e ng ine oil as used at the last
oil cha nge.
Capacities - see page 218.
A stab ilization of the engine oil
consumption will not take place until the
vehicle has been driven several thousand
miles / kilometres. Only then can the a ctual
degree of oil c onsumption be established.
If oil consumption exceeds more than
0.6 litres every 600 miles (1000 km) after
this running-in period, consult a workshop.
Engine oil change, oi l filter chang e
Eng ine oil changes are to be carried out
depending on time intervals or m ileage /
kilometre interv als, since oil loses its
lubrication properties not only through
engine operation but also through ageing.
We recommend that you use genuine
Vauxhall oil filters.

Important: It is the owner's responsibility
to maintain the correct level of a n
appropriate quality oil in the engine.
