Manual mode
Move selector lever out of p osition D (t o t he
left) into manual gate, then forwards or
backwards.
Tip selector lever in the appropriate
direc tion. It then returns to centre position.
Gearshifting in Manual mode can be
achiev ed whilst acce lerating.
If the engine speed is too low, the
transm ission will autom atically shift to a
lower gear, even in Manual mode. This
prevents the engine from stalling .
After stopping, 1st gear is automatically
selected.
No a utoma tic shifting to a higher gear
takes place at high engine speed s.
Wh e n up sh ifting in Man ua l mo de , take
heed of prevailing road conditions,
keeping engine sp eed below the red zone.
Dow nshifts must be made in accordance
with vehicle sp eed.
Gears can be skipped by moving the
selector lever repea tedly at short interva ls.
When starting on slippery surfaces, move
selector lever forwards to eng age 2nd
gear.
The selected gear is displayed in the
transmission display.
For safety reasons, kickdown is also
available in Manual mode - see page 114.
To move back to D, push selector lever
back to the right.
Winter programme
In the event of difficulties starting-off on icy
and slippery surfaces, press button n;
control indicator 0 is illuminated in the
instrument cluster and the vehicle sets off
in 3rd gear, to reduce slipping and loss of
traction.
W inter programm e is switched off by :
z pressing button n a gain
(control indica tor 0 will extinguish in
instrument cluster),
z turning off the ignition.
If the vehicle is switched to Manual mode
while Winter programme is active, the
W inter programm e is switched off.
