Luggage com partment lights
Come on when a door or the tailgate is
opened.
Front door lights
Come on when a door is opened.
Once all doors are closed, the front door
lig hts extinguish after approx. 10 seconds.
If th e do ors are le ft ope n, the ligh ts will stay
on for ap prox. 10 minutes.
Front door lights can also be turned off
immed iately by pressing button K in the
roof lining.

Comes on when you open a door.
Starter switch illumination can also be
turned off imme diately by pre ssing
button K in the roof lining.

Come on when vanity mirror covers are
op ened . See page 30.
Ashtray illumination
The portable front ashtray, loca ted in the
front drink holder, illum ina tes dep ending
on outside light c onditions. See p age 64.
Glove comp artm ent i lluminat ion
Comes on when the glove compartm ent is
op ened . See page 60.
Battery discharge protection
To prevent b attery from b ecoming
discharged , the external lights turn off
automatically approx. 10 minutes after the
ignition is switched off.
Battery discharge protection w ill not work if
the lig hts are turned on 10 minutes after
the ignition has been sw itc hed off; the key
cannot be removed from the starter switch
until the battery is recharged.
Headlights when driving abroad
The asymmetrica l dipped beam increa ses
the field of vision on the near side of the
lane.
When driving in c ountries which drive on
the op posite side of the road , this causes
glare for onc om ing traffic.
For temporary periods, to a void glare the
hea dlight pattern should be a djusted
down to the horizontal position.
Have the headlights adjusted by a
workshop.
