When upshifting in Manual mode, take
heed of prevailing road conditions,
keeping engine speed below the red zone.
Downshifts must be m ade in accordance
with ve hic le spee d.
Ge ars ca n be skipp ed b y moving the
selector lever repeatedly at short intervals.
When starting on slippery surfaces, move
selector lever forwards to engage 2nd
gear.
The selected gea r is displayed in the
transm ission display .
For safety reasons, kickdown is also
available in Manual mode - see p age 112.
To move back to D, push selector lever
back to the right.

In position P or N, control indicator j
illuminates in the selector lever ind icator
strip if the selector lever is blocked.
To engage P or R, push selector lever
button.
The engine can only be started with lever in
position P or N. When position N is sele cted,
depress footbrake or apply handbrake
before starting.
Do not a ccelerate during the selection
proc edure.

Winter programme
In the event of difficulties starting-off on icy
and slippery surfaces, press WINTE R
(or n) button. The control indicator is
illuminated in the instrument cluster. The
vehicle sets off in 3rd gear to reduce
slipping and loss of traction.
Winter programm e is switched off by :
z pressing WINTER (or n) button again
(control indicator will extinguish in
instrument cluster),
z turning off the ignition.
If the vehicle is switched to Manual mode
while Winter programme is active, the
Winter programm e is switched off.
