The Ampera has two driving modes: Electric and Extended-Range Electric.

In Electric Mode, the Ampera is powered by its battery and can be driven in this

mode for between 25 and 50 miles*. Then when the battery runs low, the Ampera

seamlessly switches to Extended-Range Electric Mode and its petrol-driven

generator takes over. The generator produces the electricity for the motor and

increases the range by up to a further 310 miles* and the driving experience is

the same in either battery or Extended-Range mode. Thanks to this innovative

system, you can be entirely confident that you’ll reach your destination – just as if

you were driving a conventionally powered car.

of battery electric driving, plus an extended range of up

to 310 miles* using its on-board petrol-powered generator.

So it offers all the convenience of a conventional car

running costs.
