1950s – Tiny cells with enormous benets
How to be big when you’re small! The first button cells
start to make life easier – a new age begins for people
with hearing aids and manufacturers of watches.
The 60s
1960s – The right colour, the right battery
Which battery do I need? The 1960s bring 3 colours – yellow,
red and blue – to indicate 3 different energy needs.
It just couldn’t be easier!
1969
1969 – VARTA on the moon
One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind. 1969 saw
Neil Armstrong taking his first steps on the moon – along for the
ride: batteries made by VARTA.
The 80s
1980s – Three times the power
VARTA begins the production of alkaline batteries. The innovation:
app. 3 times more power than conventional zinc-carbon batteries.

2004 – Fast, faster, 15 minutes
An end to endless charging cycles:
VARTA Consumer amazes the market with the 15-minute charger –
the world’s fastest battery charging system of its time.

2012 – VARTA Consumer Relaunched
