1 General points 1 General points 1.1 Points to note concerning documentation With the purchase of your VEN electric storage water heater, you have acquired a quality appliance from the Vaillant range of high-performance products. In order to take full advantage of all the features of this appliance, it is advisable to dedicate a few minutes familiarising yourself with these instructions before putting the appliance into service.

The guarantee is valid for one year. During this period, any faults on the appliance found to have been caused by faulty materials or workmanship will be repaired – free of charge – by our Customer Service Department. 2 Safety precautions and regulations 2 Safety precautions and regulations Vaillant VEN electric storage water heaters are made to the latest technical benchmarks and recognised safety standards. Incorrect operation of the appliance can nevertheless lead to the possibility of serious or fatal injury to the user or third parties, along with malfunctions in the appliance or other material damage. Caution! These appliances are designed for heating water from the mains supply only.

2 Safety precautions and regulations Frost danger The system is frost-protected as long as the VEN appliance is connected to the power supply. For this reason, it is important not to unplug the appliance from the mains or disconnect it at the main circuit breakers when there is a danger of frost. Note! As the frost-protection feature does not cover the supply pipes or valve assemblies connected to the appliance, you are recommended to drain the system whenever there is a danger of frost.

Les conduites et la robinetterie raccordée n’étant pas protégées contre le gel, nous vous recommandons de vidanger l’appareil en cas de risque de gel.

4 Installation 4.3 Wall-mounting of appliance ● The fixing elements (screws, plugs, etc.) used for VEN 007/0.eps Datei_001.eps attaching the appliance to the wall should be selected with the weight of the unit (see technical specifications) and the characteristics of the wall in mind. The electric storage water heater should be attached to the wall in a vertical position. ● Ensure that the bracket is in a horizontal position before fixing it to the wall.

4 Installation 4.5 Filling the tank When using the VEN unit for the first time (and whenever it has been drained due to frost hazard, for servicing or during work on the water-supply system), the unit must be filled with water before being plugged into the mains power supply. Keeping the outlet clear During operation, the expansion of the water in the tank as it heats up results in some hot water dripping from the swiveling outlet.

5 Initial start-up 5 Initial start-up 5.1 Putting the appliance into service 2 1 ● Start by filling the appliance with water (see section 4.5, page 28). ● Plug the mains lead into a fuse-protected 230 V~ AC power socket. ● Adjust the temperature selector to setting “E”. Water should be seen to drip from the valve assembly while the tank is heating up. This indicator lamp (2) lights up to show that the pre-set water temperature has not yet been reached.

6 Maintenance and repair 6 Maintenance and repair 6.1 Maintenance Vaillant VEN electric storage water heaters are designed to require virtually no maintenance. All internal components are protected from external influences. It is sufficient just to wipe down the VEN unit occasionally with a damp cloth – with a little water and mild detergent if required. The appliance should be serviced every three years. This procedure must only be carried out by an authorised service installer.

Toutes les pièces intérieures sont protégées contre les influences extérieures. Il suffit de nettoyer de temps en temps la gaine extérieure à l’aide d’un chiffon humide ou avec de l’eau savonneuse. L’appareil doit être révisé tous les trois ans uniquement par un installateur agréé.
