Step 1. Prepare for Installation

E: It is very important that you have your serial number

written down for future reference. If you ever need to call our

Technical Support department, you will need this number to

receive assistance. You can find your serial number on a bar

code sticker on the bottom of the modem and also on the box.

Write your serial number in the space provided below.

If you ever need to contact our Technical Support department,

you will also need your model number, which is USR8500-USB

in order to receive assistance. Make sure that your computer

is on and that you have your operating system CD-ROM readily

available.

What You Need to Know Before You Begin:

• DSL Service Provider Setting (U.S. Robotics WAN-

PPPoA (RFC 2364), U.S. Robotics LAN (RFC 1483),

or U.S. Robotics WAN-PPPoE (RFC 2516)

• User Name and Password information

• VPI/VCI Values and Encapsulation mode

U.S. Robotics USB ADSL package includes:

• One U.S. Robotics USB ADSL Modem (Model #

USR8500-USB)

• One USB cable, modem-to-computer (Type B to

Type A)
