Installation
Step One: Prepare for installation
1. Uninstall all other modems that are installed on your computer. For instruc-
tions, refer to the documentation for your previous modem.
2. Unplug all telephone and power cords connected to your previous modems.
3. Shut down your computer.
Step Two: Install the hardware
1. Find the serial port on the back of your computer by looking for the label,
COM, MODEM, RS-232, |O|O|, or SERIAL. Do not use the AUX,
GAME, LPT, or PARALLEL port.
If your computer has only a 25-pin serial port, you need to purchase a DB25/
DB25 serial cable. The serial modem cable provided with the 56K Serial
Controller Faxmodem is intended for use with a 9-pin serial port on your
computer.
2. Use a serial modem cable to connect the serial port on the modem to a serial
port on your computer.
