throughput
The amount of actual user data transmitted per second with-out the overhead of protocol
information such as Start and Stop bits or frame headers and trailers. Compare with char

U-interface
The name given to the signaling interface between the telephone companyÕs equipment
and an NT
-1. A U-interface typically takes the form of an RJ45 jack and, in the United
States, it marks the line of demarcation between the customerÕs and the telephone com-
panyÕs equipment.
