Turn On the Handset

Turn on the handset by pressing until text appears on the screen.

• If the handset displays the handset name and number, the installation process is complete and you can

start using your handset.

• If the handset displays a scrolling welcome message, continue with the next step in the installation proc-

ess, Select Your Language.

Select Your Language

When you turn on the handset for the first time, you must set the language by selecting your country. Be sure to

select the same country that you selected on the handset that came with the base station. If the country settings

do not match, you will not be able to register the handset to the base station.

1. Wait for the welcome message to stop scrolling.

The handset begins its country selection mode.

2. Press or to select the country that you selected on the handset that came with the base station, and

press to select OK.

The handset displays COUNTRY > FAILED, but has set your language. All prompts are now displayed in the lan-

guage associated with the country that you selected.

Registration establishes a connection between the handset and the base station.

If the handset displays UNREGISTERED, you need to register the handset with the base station as follows:

1. Press MENU.

The handset displays ADVANCED SET > REGISTRATION.

2. On the base station, press and hold the paging key on the base station until the In Use LED starts blinking.

3. The base station is now in registration mode.

4. On the handset, Press OK.

5. If the handset prompts you for a PIN, enter the PIN and press OK.

The default PIN is 0000.

During the registration period, the handset displays SEARCH BASE. At the end of the registration period, the

handset indicates successful registration by sounding a confirmation tone and stopping the

icon from flashing.

The handset then displays its name, number, and clock.

If the registration process fails, repeat the steps above for registering the handset.
