Frequently asked questions
With which plumbing standards is this offering compatible?
The offering is compatible with ASTM B88 Type K, L or M copper
pipe and ASME B16.51 copper press ttings.
What is the operating temperature range for these adapters?
For hot and cold potable water, chilled water and hydronic
heating and cooling applications, the range is 0°F (-17.8°C) to
200°F (93.3°C). Note that the Plastics Pipe Institute (PPI) issues
the following operating temperature and pressure ratings for
PEX piping systems: 200°F (93.3°C) at 80psi, 180°F (82.2°C)
at 100psi and 73.4°F (23°C) at 160psi.
Are the adapters acceptable for use in direct-burial
applications?
Yes, however they must be wrapped with 6 mil poly material for
direct burial in soil or concrete.
How can I tell if the press process is complete?
The ½" to 2" press adapter connections display jaw marks
on the brass indicating a proper connection. The 2½" to 3"
press adapter connections feature a tag that breaks to indicate
a proper connection (note you must remove this tag after
completing the connection).
Where do I access installation instructions for the
Uponor adapters?
For press tting adapters, refer to the copper press tting
supplier’s installation instructions to verify a completed press
connection. For press adapters, refer to uponorpro.com/press.
Which press tools and jaws are approved for use with
the Uponor offering?
Refer to the charts on this page for the approved tools.
In what types of systems can I use these adapters?
The adapters are suitable for use in hot and cold potable water,
chilled water and hydronic heating and cooling applications.
Why don’t the 2½" and 3" press adapters have a
stainless-steel ring like other press adapters on the market?
The 2½" and 3" press adapters incorporate a patented design
that securely fastens the pipe and tting together, eliminating
the need for a ring.
