SpanningTreeProtocol(STP)isappliedtoaloopnetwork.Itblocks
someredundantpathswithcertainalgorithmssothattheloopnet-
workisprunedintoatreenetworkwithoutanyloop,thusavoiding
theinniteloopofpacketsintheloopnetwork.
STPisimplementedbyexchangingBridgeProtocolDataUnit
(BPDU)messagesamonginvolvedswitchesinanextendedLAN.
ThefollowingoperationscanbeperformedbyexchangingBPDU
messages:
1.Selectingarootswitchfromthestablespanningtreetopology.
2.Selectingadesignatedswitchfromthenetwork.
3.SettingredundantswitchportstoDiscarding,toavoidloopsin
thetopology.
STPmoduleofZXR105900/5200supportsthreemodes:SSTP ,
RSTPandMSTP ,whichrespectivelyobservesIEEE802.1d,
IEEE802.1wandIEEE802.1sstandards.
SSTPMode
SingleSpanningTreeProtocol(SSTP)fullyobservesIEEE802.1d
standardsintermsoffunction.ThebridgerunningSSTPcanfully
interworkwiththoserunningRSTPandMSTP.
