protocol) port is used. SAT provides VHF
backup in most cases and does not support

Abbreviation for telephony. The telephony
communication link provides a circuit mode
data connection via a dial-up modem. A
hand shake must be established prior to
data being exchanged. Only an RS-232
capable SatCom can be used. The circuit
mode connection will be used for obtaining
color weather graphics and may be used for
VHF back up in most cases. However, this
link will not support safety services
communications, which consists of flight
information services, which is a UniLink
service.
