What you need to do:
Insert battery, test and install
1. Loosen the mounting bracket by
pressing the lock with a screwdriver
and pushing the smoke detector in
the
opposite direction. Connect the
battery correctly.
2. Press the test button for a few
seconds until the alarm sounds and
the Smart Alert remote responds. If
this occurs, the unit is working
properly and ready to install.
3. Attach the mounting bracket on the
ceiling with the screws provided.
Insert and slide the smoke detector
on the mounting bracket until it locks.
4. Test smoke detector using button
with indicator lamp. On top of the
smoke detector there is a test button
(2) with a red indicator lamp
underneath. This lamp will flash once
or twice per minute to indicate that
the battery is correctly connected and
providing enough power to activate
the detector.
5. To test the function of the smoke
detector just press the test button for
five seconds until the detector
transmits to the Smart Alert remote
and the alarm sounds. The receiver
will then respond with sound/light.
6. Extend antenna (1) so that it points
down (fully extended outward). Hold
down test button (2). After several
seconds, the smoke detector will
sound a shrill alarm and transmit a
signal to your remote. The red LED
smoke icon will illuminate on your
remote, and your remote will vibrate.
An urgent beep alert will sound
in your hearing instruments.
Press acknowledge button on
remote to stop beep in your hearing
instruments, the alerts on your
remote will continue for 30 seconds.
(If this does not work as described,
please see troubleshooting section).
Range
The operating range between the smoke
detector and Smart Alert remote is
approx. 30 m but is influenced by the
thickness of the walls and the wall
materials in the house/apartment. Thick
concrete and metal walls limit the range.
The range is also limited when the
battery is low. Check that the Smart Alert
remote responds to the smoke detector
signal everywhere in the house/apartment.
The bedroom is of most importance.
