5.2.3 Null-Modem connection
You can use a null modem cable to connect to the communication
port on
e
maGEN
. This connection will work regardless of an IP ad-
dress, and you can use it in case the IP connection is not functional
or the IP address of
e
maGEN
is unknown.
NOTE
You will not be able to use the
e
maGEN
WebController and ftp access to the system
using null-modem, as it is not an IP based
connection. However, you will be able to
run the
e
maGEN
T3adm program.
5.3 ftp ACCESS
ftp (File transfer Protocol) is an internet standard for transferring files
between systems over IP protocol. In order to view the contents of
e
maGEN
System as well as download or upload files to it, you will
need ftp access.
When connected to
e
maGEN
using a crossover cable or over a net-
work:
open a browser window on your machine and type the following
in the address (URL) line of the browser:
ftp://root@
e
maGEN
IPAddress/../usr/
e
maGEN
where
e
maGEN
IPAddress is the name or IP address of the
e
maGEN
machine.
For example, with the default address of
e
maGEN
being
192.168.0.100, you will enter:
ftp://root@192.168.0.100/../usr/
e
maGEN
You will then be prompted to enter your administrator password.
Now you have access to the
e
maGEN
directory and you can copy,
paste and edit files by using standard Windows commands.
