is a versatile system with many
programmable variations. Unless otherwise
specified, this manual presents the default
operation and settings of programmable
features and parameters.

SYSTEM HARDWARE
2.3.1 The
e
maGEN
-PC
The
e
maGEN
system is based on a dedicated personal computer,
termed the
e
maGEN
-PC, fitted with additional printed circuit cards,
as required for full operation of the purchased system.
2.3.2 The
e
maGEN
Voice Mail cards
e
maGEN
can be configured with up to 28 voice mail ports, in all
unit
e
systems.
The
e
maGEN
-PC must be fitted with
e
maGEN
printed circuit
cards,depending on the number of
e
maGEN
ports you wish to
establish in your system.
There are several types of
e
maGEN
four
telephony port and two port voice processing cards,manufactured
by Brooktrout Technology, to choose from, in order to setup your
system, as detailed in Section 3.3.2, below.
The
e
maGEN
-PC can thus have any even number config-uration
of
e
maGEN
ports -- from 2 to 28 ports, as follows:
One four-port card, for a four-port
e
maGEN
system;
Two four-port cards, for an eight-port
e
maGEN
system;
Three four-port cards, for a 12-port
e
maGEN
system;
Four four-port cards, for a 16-port
e
maGEN
system.
Five four-port cards, for a 20-port
e
maGEN
system;
Six four-port cards, for a 24-port
e
maGEN
system;
Seven four-port cards, for a 28-port
e
maGEN
system.
The
e
maGEN
cards are connected to OCD card(s) installed in the
respective
unit
e
system cabinet, as described in Section 3.9,
below.
